Up to the late 1950s many liners and ferries left Liverpool from the Princes Landing Stage at the Pier Head. As the city went into decline during the 60s most of the landing stage was removed, or fell down. This is the remains of the only building to survive, the Ticket Collector's Kiosk at the north end.
You can just imagine the many travellers queueing up to present their tickets to far away lands and then embarking to new adventures.
Times change though and a new Cruise Ship Terminal is being built where Princes Landing Stage once stood and we should see more liners and cruise ships return to the Mersey.
