T'was a still, cold morning.....

.. the Yorkshire Dales, the rain had passed in the early morning, the mist was cloudung the hills around and the wind had dropped completely. The locomotives of the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway were being fired up and the visiting steam traction engines were pouring out smoke. all adding to the misty, smokey atmosphere.

Standing in front of the coaling stage at Embsay station was Lady Fiona, a 1922 built steam wagon by Aveling & Porter, strangely enough for the Yorkshire Dales the livery was that of an Australian Outback Haulage company.

That is a wonderful looking vehicle and you shot it in the perfect venue and the mist is perfect.

Beautiful capture of this wonderful steam wagon. Love the early morning mist - I can feel the damp and cold. (:o)

Great image Les, you don't get to see steam lorries very much these days altgough someone where I live has one out occasionally. Great atmosphere with the mist and smoke, and lovely muted colours.

Les Auld: Thanks Brian, they do make good subjects though. There are afew more in the pipeline.

I love the atmosphere in this! I'm used t oseeeing these great machines at the Great Dorset Steam Fair under warm bright August sunshine so this makes a welcome change. Can't see I've seen one bearing colours from "down under! before.
