Swift Display Team

Last weekend was quite busy with La Machine and then the Southport Airshow. Fortunately the weather held on the Sunday so most of the planes were able to display, only a few did not make it.

One of the more unusual displays was the Swift Display Team, which consisted of a Piper Pawnee as a glider towing aircraft, A Silence Twister, built from a kit, and a Swift glider built in Poland. They are seen here flying along the display line whilst the pilot of the glider, Guy Westgate, was attempting a world record for the number of rolls whilst being towed along the length of the display line. He achieved 12 which was a new record. It was quite an interesting display and they were they only team to use the beach to land on.
