Southport Shrimpers
In the early part of the last century Southport was famous for it's potted brown shrimps. Many shrimpers went out over the beaches at low tide in their little carts to catch the shrimps. Last year the local council erected a monument to these men on one of the coastal road traffic islands, looking out to sea.
