The Royal Navy Assault ship, HMS Albion, was in port this weekend. She was open to the public on the Saturday and the Falklands 25 Memorial service was held aboard on the Sunday.
I had seen this ship in port lastyear but did not have the chance to go aboard. This year was different, she is enormous inside, with four landing craft, helicopters and al sosrts of land vehicles aon the well deck. Difficult toget good pictures though. It seemed strange to be wandering around the ship with armed marines dotted about the decks, I did wonder whether the guns were loaded.
The pile of scrap metal in the background is just part of the two million tons that is exported from Liverpool every year, mainly to the far east.
