Cranford No 2

Built by W. C. Bagnell in 1942 Cranford No. 2 was designed specifically for the ironstone quarrying industry. During the war, the Ministry of Supply ordered a number of these locomotives, which were delivered to quarries in the Staveley Group. This locomotive spent its working life at Cranford Quarries near Kettering.

Here is is seen on loan to the Embsay and Bolton Abbey railway in the Yorkshire Dales. It is now out of traffic awaiting boiler repairs at the Rutland Railway Museum. Its livery is that carried by the locomotive when originally delivered to the quarries.
