photoblog image The Merchant Navy Memorial

The Merchant Navy Memorial

Donated To the people of Liverpool by the Liverpool Retired Merchant Seafarers and dedicated to the men and women who gave their lives willingly for the freedom of others and have no grave but the sea. It is located next to the Naval Auxiliary Memorial on the Pier Head.

The lights on the river are on the Mersey Ferry Royal Daffodil, the blue lights are part of a Liverpool Capital of Culture Project and called Pool of Light. The river cruise is to show the buildings illuminated on both sides of the river and a Guide provides a commentary on them.

Simple monuments like this are often the most effective.
Les Auld: That is true Bill, the words on them should speak the loudest not the grandour of the monument. Thanks for the comment.

Oi, the EXIF doesn't speak to me here. Lovely effects in the sky and on the river.
Les Auld: Thanks Louis because it is an HDR of five images created from a single picture and the EXIF does not translate in Photomatix.
Lovely composition and capture. May they forever have external peace.
Les Auld: Couldn't agree more, thanks for the comment.
