photoblog image St Eadburgha, Broadway

St Eadburgha, Broadway

The Church of St Eadburgha is now situated on the outskirts of the town of Broadway in the Cotswolds. The current building is 14th century but evidence of the original 12th century church may be found inside.

Eadburgha was the grand-daughter of Alfred the Great. The story is told that as a child Eadburgha was asked to choose between receiving jewels or her own Bible, she chose the Bible

A charming building & place Les. It must be some way from that very tourist-centred village
Les Auld: It is Chris, it was just luck that I drove past it. Thanks for the comment.
Although it isn't far from me I have never seen this church. Mind you i do tend to avoid Broadway
Les Auld: Broadway can be a bit much Bill, this church is now outside the town, thanks for the comment.
