Julia and Eillean ...

... Producing probably the best bacon butties in North West England at Threlkeld Quarry. a very ad-hoc arrangement run by two friendly ladies, but very welcoming after a long drive north in the early morning.

Wait. Even better than the ones we had in the Clent Hills????
Les Auld: My memory of the Clent Hills ones is over twenty years old Ginnie so I do not feel qualified to compare, but they were indeed good. thanks for the comment.
Bacon butties are really just toasted bacon sandwiches right?
Les Auld: They don't have to be toasted Jacquelyn, thanks for the comment.

Where would we be without the quality of the food from these places - we like the roadside ones as well
Les Auld: Starving I suppose Lisl, thanks for the comment.
I expect that smells good as you approach Les.
Les Auld: Indeed so as you weave through the machines outside it just draws you in, thanks for the comment.
MMMM!
Les Auld: Just So Frank, thanks for the comment.

Threkheld isn't that at the base of Blencathra.

A fine image but I've decided, in my dottage, that there is always too much bread with these snacks.
Les Auld: I think they got the ratio of bread to bacon just right Richard, thanks for the comment.
I bet those sarnies were very welcome after driving all that way Les.
Les Auld: Indeed they were Brian, thanks for the comment.
