The Super D catches the Sun

Early Tuseday morning and the Super D, 49395, puts on a spirited display hauling freight on the Llangollen Railway prior to the public running during the Steel, Steam & Stars extravaganza, a nine day celebration in support of he new Grange build, 6880, Betton Grange.

The weather was pretty grim, wet and grey but the sun broke through for a short while as the Super D ran past on the 1000 yard straight afte Berwyn.

Absolutely wonderful Les, the dark sky actually helps in this composition. Did you get a look at the Grange: I wonder how far they've managed to progress?
Les Auld: I didn't get as far as the shed Chris, but the charter was in aid of the Grange so money well spent. Thanks for the comment.
Superb Les, the light works really well to bring out the detail (& your treatment) in this - POV also.
Les Auld: It seemed to work Ok Fred, thanks for the comment.
Chris and Fred have said it all about the weather Les, a super shot, well captured.
Les Auld: Thanks Frank, appreciate the comment.
A very good atmosphere to this shot Les, I guessed you would make it over to this gala at some time. Are you aware of the Railway Herald online magazine, you can have a free logon which allows one to post images but not see the magazine in full, I have opened one of these recently. It is at http://railwayherald.com/
Les Auld: About the only five minutes of atmosphere there was Brian. I am aware of the railway Herald but never posted on it. I tend to use http://www.railwayforum.net/. thanks for the comment.
One of your best train shots. Great light and loads of steam and smoke.
Les Auld: Thanks Bill, appreciate the comment.
