photoblog image Wash Your Hands Now!

Wash Your Hands Now!

The stern faced schoolmistress can only just keep her face straight whilst the young girl makes her way to the washing area in the corridor of her school.

Both yesterday's and today's images are composits, the figures are from either Beamish Museum or some 1940s events around the country whilst the school backgrounds are the Pit Village school at the Beamish Museum.

Well you are just terrifically creative stitching these together! I love the little girl - her braids tied back with a lovely bow!

Life really was that harsh back then Les. I love the pigtails: reminds me of childhood
Les Auld: So you had pigtails Chris! Thanks for the comment.

A good edit, Les. The girl's dress and her hairstyle suits the view well.

I really wish that we were stil so keen on personal hygiene; many of the colds and flu-type things could be reduced.
Les Auld: Thanks Alan, appreciate the comment.

I remember at Junior school our toilets were in an outside wooden block. We were given a lecture on the importance of washing hands. 'Use hot water', we were told, 'Or if there is only cold water make sure to use soap'.
Les Auld: I have similar memories Chad, thanks for the comment.
Rather grand facilities, almost as good as Hogwarts.
Les Auld: A bit down market perhaps John, thanks for the comment.
Nice work Les!
Les Auld: Glad you like it Fred, thanks for the comment.
