Liverpool Lantern Festival

Halloween and the Liverpool Lantern Festival, held in Sefton Park, celebrates the event, thousands of people turned up to see the parades, street theatre and fireworks. Fine weather meant that the park was really crowded.

My favourite band, the Liverpool Batala Band, lead one of the parades across the park to the main showground.

There were small performace spaces set up where there was interaction with some of the large mobile lanterns, such as the Blue Lady facing the Dinosaur:

Batala

There was also Dance and Music a plenty for the crowds to enjoy:

Dance

The Lantern Band was one of the bands around the arena:

A very enjoyable, and free, evening out.

This is amazing Les: I like this sort of thing, especially when it has a theatrical element. I'll look for them on You Tube
Les Auld: There are a few Batala videos on YouTube Chris, the sound is just mesmerising. Thanks for the comment.

A great selection of images here Les. You've done well to capture them so clearly at night.
Les Auld: A bit of flash helped Ingrid, thanks for the comment.

Looks very impressive, Les. I like the headgear of the band in the red "dresses" especially. Oh, and I like the idea of free, too!
Les Auld: Free does it for me every time Alan, thanks for the comment.
Good shots Les, and good reportage also.
Les Auld: Thanks John, such a good event to photograph.

Les Auld: Thanks Linda, it was a great event to try and photograph.
Great main shot Les, really like the energy and motion as they all look and lean leftwards!
Les Auld: First to the left then to the right, they were full of movement Fred, thanks for the comment.
