Stanier Black 5 - 45212

45212 simmers in the rain at Keigley station during the Steam Gala. This will be her last Gala for some time as her boiler certificate expires at the end of the month.

Meanwhile on the Great Central railway ex GCR O4 freight locomotive hauls the Travelling Post Office set through Quorn on its way back to Loughborough. 63601 will be celebrating it's 100th birthday this coming January.

Maids of all work these Black 5s Les. I was looking at the 04 at Loughborough when we visited the shed & wondered if this lovely old thing is going to have a 100th birthday party!
Les Auld: I suspect the GCR will celebrate in some way Chris, thanks for the comment.
A classic and a grand old lady.
Les Auld: Just goes to show what is about Bill, thanks for the comment.
What can I say, other than superb pictures here Les.
Les Auld: Thanks Frances smile

You really do present these gorgeous trains very well Les smile
Les Auld: Thanks Linda smile
Two fine locos aren't they Les. I believe the O4 is nearly at the end of its boiler certificate.
Les Auld: It is Brain and the NRM are deciding just what to do with it. Thanks for the comment.
More nice shots Les, I'm still no wiser as to why we called these Staniers 'Mickeys'
Les Auld: We always referred to them as Black 5s, Mickeys were the later moguls as far as we were concerned, something to do with Mickey Mouse perhaps. Thanks for the comment.
