Wadebridge at Loughborough

It is the autumn steam gala season when Britain's Heritage Railways hold their final galas of the year. This weekend saw the Great Central Railway and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway with Steam in action. It rained, the weather was pretty rough, especially on Sunday in he Worth Valley.

On the Great Central the Southern Region West Country Class 34007, Wadebridge, was one of the stars. It is the first time a "Spam Can" has visited the GCR in over 18 years.

Over on the KWVR the ex LMS 4F Locomotive 43924 made her first Gala appearance.

In late 1965 I was hauled by 34007 from Salisbury to Exeter. Steam had long gone from the route but a diesel obligingly failed and presented me with this final opportunity. Lovely things!
Les Auld: I never saw these Southern engines in real life Chris, but preservation has enabled me to bot see and aide behind them. Thanks for the comment.

Splendid photographs Les. Your photographs bring back the magic that trains once had. Reminds me of my trip to Isle of Wight this summer and the short journey on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Thank you for sharing these pictures.
Les Auld: Thanks you Thomas, appreciate the comment.

Les Auld: Certainly different to most other engines Frank, thanks for the comment.
You didn't waste much time getting your photos done Les, Wadebridge looks great and the 4F is a fine little engine.
Les Auld: Saves me from sleeping at night Brian, thanks for the comment.
