photoblog image Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth

The visit on Thursday of the Cunarder Queen Elizabeth marked the start of a week of celebrating Liverpool and the River Mersey in the Mersey River Festival. With Tall Ships, Power Boats, Street Theatre and many other events it should be a good week.

The QE left in the evening to the accompanyment of fireworks and ships horns, unfortunately the deck of the ferry was not a place that was conducive to taken long exposure night-time images.

I've always said that all I ask is that you treat me no differently than you would the Queen.
Les Auld: Indeed so Maam, and I'm honoured that you would provide a comment. {-)

LOL at Elizabeth (the other one). HA! That is one fine Queen, Les, especially in your hands (I say that often, don't I!).
Les Auld: AN interesting thought Ginnie, thanks for the comment.

It really is a huge floating hotel Les. I would be curious to go aboard one of these to look around
Les Auld: The local paper has some interior shots and it is indeed impressive Chris, thanks for the comment.
You have captured her really well Les. I was lucky enough to see her when I was on holiday in Turkey last year.
Les Auld: She is an impressive ship Frances, thanks for the comment.

I'm old enough to recall seeing the original Queeen Elizabeth (the ship, not the monarch!) coming in and out of Southampton. I also saw the first and last departures of the QEII. This beast, though, has none of those fine lines. Function over style now I believe. It's a fine capture, Les.
Les Auld: A strictly functional cruise boat Alan and not a patch on the traditional liners. I have a photo of the last visit of the QE2 on the wall in front of me as I type this, a much better looking ship. Thanks for the comment.
I just cannot imagine going on a thing like this!
Les Auld: Neither can I Bill but many people do, thanks for the comment.
A very impressive ship and treatment Les, I hope SAGA are not hiring it for their Titanic experience voyage smile
Les Auld: That's not until next year Frank, thanks for the comment.
What a boat, what an image - tremendous.
Les Auld: Thanks Martin, appreciate the comment.
Fine looking ship isn't it. We've never fancied going on a cruise but like Chris I would enjoy a look round something like this.
Les Auld: Same for me Brian, thanks for the comment.
