Bodiam castle

Bodiam Castle is a 14th-century moated castle near Robertsbridge in East Sussex, England. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III. The castle was partially dismantled after the English Civil War and stood as a ruin until its purchase by John Fuller in 1829. Under his auspices, the castle was partially restored before being sold on, eventually passing into the hands of Lord Curzon who willed it to the  National trust in 1925.

Unfortunately when I arrived it had just closed for the day so I was only able to get a few exterior pictures of this impressive castle.

I'd love to visit Bodiam Castle. There was a programme about it the other night - saying how young boys would be sent there (and to other castles) to be trained in all manner of things, including being a page, squire and knight.
Les Auld: I suspect it was quite a hard life though Debb, thanks for the comment.

Great capture of a castle worth visiting, we went there with the Grandchildren a few years ago. climbing up the turrets was quite a scary exprience, the views are amazing from up there

Not a part of the country with which I'm familiar although I have seen pictures of this great looking castle before.
