photoblog image Marim in Brocklebank Dock

Marim in Brocklebank Dock

Last Saturday was the annual Friends of the Feriies Mersey River and Liverpool Dock Cruise. For once the weather was fine and there were a number of ships in the docks.

The oil tanker Marim is moored in Brocklebank Dock alongside the Cargill Products rapeseed crush plant and refinery. The oils produced here are used in bio-diesel, animal feedstuffs and food products to name but three.

Industry scenes like this have so much character in your hands, Les. Seriously!
Les Auld: Thanks Ginnie, I do like industrial landscapes, especially ones with lots of pipes and colour to hold the interest.
Excellent shot Les, I guess Marim must be empty, she seems quite well out of the water.
Les Auld: Just finish unloading Brian, she left just after we did. Thanks for the comment.
Good shot Les, very interesting, always like seeing ships like this, it takes me back to being a kid playing on Latchford locks at Warrington, when large vessels still came up the canal, happy days.
Les Auld: Not so many make the journey along the big ditch these days Frank, thanks for the comment.
Super shot Les. I like it that Marim seems to have a face.
Les Auld: Something I never noticed Janet, thanks for the comment.
I suppose no smoking on an oil tanker is a good idea
Les Auld: I suspect so Bill, thanks for the comment.
