Part way into the afternoon of the Photo Charter on the East Lancashire Railway, after several successful run pasts, 73129 failed in a vast cloud of smoke and steam as the photograhers in the trackside gallery at Little Burrs looked on.
The locomotive had failed with a blown superheater element. So not a successful set of charters on the ELR , two days - two engine failures.
