photoblog image Freight at Ramsbottom

Freight at Ramsbottom

Wednesday started grey and damp, just like the previous day with heavy fog on the motorway as I drove to the East Lancashire Railway to take part in the second day's photocharter with the BR Standard 5, 73129, heading a long rake of freight wagons. The light was pretty grim for the rest of the day but we did manage some photographs.

Here 73129 leaves Ramsbottom with the signalman presenting the single line access token to the train crew as it passes.

Lovely stuff Les: I expect it had years of potential life left in it when withdrawn
Les Auld: Only a young-un Chris, thanks for the comment.
Great atmosphere Les. This locomotive only saw 11 years service with BR
Les Auld: And much longer in preservation Bill, strange but true. Thanks for the comment.

Les Auld: The organiser Richard Newton usually sends out invites by e-mail, I don't have any more scheduled yet though. Thanks for the comment.
I think the people who restore the old trucks are real railway enthusiasts.
Les Auld: Certainly not as glorious as the loco men but very necessary Bill, thanks for the comment.
Lovely soft colours Les
