photoblog image The Runner

The Runner

Is it one runner as in the famous Eadweard J. Muybridge study of the motion of the horse or is an athletics team racing across a forlorn building, only the artist Faith Bebington knows. One of the series of Liverpool Discovers artworks that are postioned around the city until mid March.

Although Liverpool is renowned globally for its football prowess and glorious Grand National, it is a little known fact that  an annual Grand Olympic Festival devised by John Hulley and Charles Melly was held in the city  between 1862 to 1867 on which the  first modern Olympiad in Athens was based.

At night the Runner is floodlit.
