photoblog image The Tesco Special

The Tesco Special

A Class 92 Electric heads the regular Tesco Freightliner operated by Stobart Rail north towards Carlisle past Brock Crossing just after the Steam Special passed.

Eddie Stobard is one of the great success stories of the last fifty years. Founded in 1960 in the Lake District as a small haulage company it now has a presence in many aspects of logistics and haulage. There are 1850 lorry tractors on the roads, several major rail contracts, including Tesco, a rail infrastructure business, owns Carlsile Airport and has had a television programme dedicated to the company. In addition there is an Eddie Stobart fan club with fans who collect the names on each of the lorries and also take part in other activities. ( I AM not a member though)
