photoblog image The Peace Monument

The Peace Monument

On the 70th anniversary of the birth of John Lennon a stature designed in his honour was unveilled on Chavasse Park in Liverpool by his first wife, Cynthia, and their son Julian to an accompanyment of words and music from John Lennon's life. The artwork was created by American artist Lauren Voiers, commissioned by the Global Peace Initiative and is named 'Peace and Harmony'.

Also as part of the city’s two-month Lennon Tribute Season a portrait of the singer/song writer is being projected onto the side of the Edward Pavillion at the Albert Dock complex.

I like the bottom image especially Les. Hearing that he would now be 70 years of age suddenly makes me feel old & disconcerted
Les Auld: It make you realise your own mortality is approaching and you are on the downhill slope, hopefully still a long way to go though. Thanks for the comment Chris.
Rather strange looking statue Les, but I like the idea of the projection in the lower picture.
Les Auld: I've yet to see it in the light so I'm not not quite sure just what it is. Thanks for the comment Brian.
He was a funny bugger and you can't imagine (no pun intended) that he would ever have made 70 somehow.
Les Auld: IT does take a stretch of the imagination Bill, thanks for the comment.
