Yew Tree Tarn

Besides the road from Coniston to Ambleside in the Lake district is the Yew Tree Tarn, one of the smallest stretches of water in the Lakes. A man-made lake, it was formed in the 1930s when a dam was built at the southern end of the lake and then stocked with trout so that man could pursue his desire to hunt fish with a bit of string and a bent pin, or something similar.

This is so beautiful, Les, and why I so love this time of the year.

But I'm laughing because you've reminded me of a Susie-ism: My sister Susan once asked if the water was real when we told her a lake was artificial/man-made. I've never forgotten it. grin
Les Auld: Taking words so literally can often turn the comemnt into unintended humour, one of the staples of our life perhaps. It is quite a pleasant place, thanks for the comemnt.

A very popular sport but one that does nothing for me. Love the colours of the trees though
Les Auld: Nor for me Bill, thanks for the comment.
