Strangely - it rather suits the picture Les
Les Auld: Strangely enough I agree Chris, thanks for the comment.
Rather good graffiti really.
Les Auld: Not too bad Bill, thanks for the comment.
I am always torn about graffitti. Some of the artists are so talented, I kind of wish they could be encouraged in a different direction. Of course, I understand that the appeal of graffitti is the anarchic nature of it, so giving these people a wall in a gallery would probably have little or no appeal. (:o)
Les Auld: I'm well with you there Rosalyn, 95% at least of all graffiti is pure vandalism but the some is mighty fine work. Thanks for the comment.
I forgot to make a comment on the image! I like it very much. There is something very symbolic about the cathedral and the foreground building being tied together with the overhead cables. Kind of like they are in a tug of war competition. (:o)
Les Auld: Nice idea, the eternal tug of war, thanks for the comment Rosalyn.

Seem wrong some how
Les Auld: 95% of it is Vintage, thanks for the comment.
Nice HDR! The graffiti really pops out!
Les Auld: Thanks Marion, not a true HDR though but processed using the topaz plug-ins.
I'm a bit like Rosalyn where graffiti is concerned but this does give a splendid view of the outline shape of the Cathedral Les.
Les Auld: I would agree to an extent Brian, 95% of graffiti is rubbish and should not be encouraged but occasionally there is some good work that is worth celebrating perhaps. Thanks for the comment.
What a wonderfully coloured picture.

It seems to show the contrast between all the hopes for the city at the time the new cathedral was planned and the reality of today, when the area around it is a mess.

As for graffiti - some is good, some is nothing more than childish tagging, just to leave a personal mark, somehow, somewhere.
Les Auld: When the cathedral was planned and the building started the surrounding area was mainly slum type dwellings, there was a very great contrast then. Now most of the are has been flattened with only a few areas left and new buildings have sprung up so there is gradual improvement. Definitely agree on the graffiti most of it needs cleaning up. Thanks for the comment Ellie.
