Of course the ubiquitous Dad's Army characters, including Private Pike, where there as well.

Looks like Corporal Jones is about to give them the cold steel; they won't like that up 'em! Those girls look very provocative; Caption Mainwearing would have none of that nonesense! Lovely stuff, Les.
Les Auld: That is one programme that has a lot to answer for Alan, thanks for the comment.

Les Auld: At least she has some Chris, thanks for the comment.
Us boys don't stand a chance when the girls perform like that ... ;-)

I think they're all having way too much fun, Les. grin Fabulous PPing for all these images. You really have done them justice. I bet they'd all love copies!
Les Auld: Perhaps they would Ginnie, although I suppose if everyone thought about it they would be inundated with pictures. Thanks for the comment.
Three great images Les, especially the Pike one.
Les Auld: Thanks Brian, I've seen him about at these events quite often.

In Wells we saw some trucks of the Allied Army passing by and some time later we heard that some scenes from the WWII were 'played' like on a stage - sorry, for us Germans very, very strange, far far away from being "great fun" - but I completely agree it is necessary and important never to forget this horrible and terrible time in both countries!
Les Auld: I know what you mean about never forgetting Philine, war is one of the most terrible of acts. Unfortunately something that seems to have happened since people first started walking upright. I think it will always be in some people's nature to re-enact the past of all periods and World War II is probably just about fading in peopels minds, and not just in the UK either.

Thanks for your thought provoking comment, appreciate it.
Great stuff Les. Nice bit of the old cold steel in the lower picturetongue
Les Auld: Plenty of it about Bill, thanks for the comment.
Oh excellent!
Les Auld: Thank you Ellie, just a bot of fun.
Smashing set of images - some real characters. (:o)
Les Auld: They keep turning up at these events Rosalyn, thanks for the comment.
