photoblog image US Airborne

US Airborne

The War Weekend at Peak Rail in Derbyshire was more a military action event than the 1940s civilian/homeguard events at places such as Crich. There were comapnies of German, Russian, American and Britsih re-enactors who all took part in the requisite battle along the railway line.

Two soldiers of the US Airborne Division are seen here in front of a trench housing machine guns and communications before the battle.

(The tall one on the right does remind me of the comedian Russ Abbot for some reason)

Great picture.

The one thing that always amazes me of these events, is that the participants find the time to dress up and walk about to create an atmosphere.
Les Auld: It is just what they do though Louis, thanks for the comment.
