The Cumbrian Mountain Express

Last Saturday's steam special was the Cumbrian Mountain Express from Crewe to Carlisle and hauled by one of Sir William Stanier's finest 6201 Princess Elizabeth. Seen here at the Ribbehead viaduct on the Settle and Carlisle line.

Lovely stuff Les: no doubt it was observing some sort of restricted speed over the viaduct?
Les Auld: There is a 30mph restriction over the viaduct these days Chris, reduces the spendour a bit but makes taking a decent picture easier. Thanks for the comment.

She will be coming round the mountain, when she comes ...

She will be cumbrian round the mountain ...
Les Auld: Very good Louis smile Thanks for the comment.
One of the great sights a steam train coming over Ribblehead viaduct
Les Auld: It is indeed Bill and not a wire in sight, thanks for the comment.
Two great shots Les, the viaduct one is a very POV. I'm having trouble getting images into the narrative area, how do you manage it?
Les Auld: A great place to take a decent picture Brian.

To put images in the narrative area they have to be hosted off-line, I use my Flickr images for this. There is an insert image icon under the font size box and the URL of the image, e.g. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/4846853823_c028b02278.jpg should be inserted using this feature. I generally use the medium size image from the Flickr All Sizes window. It just seems to work. Hope this helps.
Steam trains and viaducts are a magic formula for me. Good shot.
Les Auld: And me John, thanks for the comment.

Fabulous! A timeless image. I love the smoke and steam; looks like a bit a breeze blowing!
Les Auld: A wind right down the valley blowing the rain awy at the right moment. Thanks for the comment Alan.
