In the Train Shed at York

One of East Coast Train Company's High Speed 125 Trains stands at the platform in York Station. The HST was designed in the early 1970s with a projected life of 10 years. Build as a low cost alternative to the then before it's time Tilting Train. Many of the sets are still working over thirty years later, surely a testament to the strength of the design.

The most successful design of the lot Les: but of course they're a lot different to how they first appeared. My journey from London to Inverness & back on these earlier in the year was an example of how good these units still are after all those years
Les Auld: They have suffered an upgrade or two Chris but as you say it was such a good design. Thanks for the comment.
nicely captured. I like all the arching metal ribs overhead smile
Les Auld: It is quite impressive Charles, thanks for the comment.
I enjoy travelleing by HST when I get the chance Les, and of course this is a magnificent train shed.
Les Auld: But would look much better with an A4 in place of the HST Brian, thanks for the comment.
It still looks purposeful . All those arches on a curve still look fantastic as well.
Les Auld: It is a rgand looking train shed John, thanks for the comment.
great capture
Les Auld: Thanks Derek.
