The battle for the bridge at Highley on the Severn Valley Railway saw he allied troops taking on the German bridge guard for possession of this vital part of the railway. As the fight was beginning this Hurricane figther appeaerd low over the trees and did a couple of strafing runs down the line before returning to it's base.

The aircraft is part of the Battle of Britain Historic Flight and was the last Hawker Hurricane to roll off the production line in 1944.

A german bridge guard on the Severn - the same one between Kidderminster and Bridgenorth?

Heh, you did succeed in having this picture looks like those RAF paintings of WWII aircraft.
Les Auld: That's what I was aiming for Louis, thanks for the comment.

A fine picture Les. I don't think there are many Hurricanes left in preservation. A pity because they were terrific fighers
Les Auld: Very hardy indeed Chris, I know the Battle of Britain Flight has two flying ones and there are quite a few spread around the world in museums. Thanks for the comment.

This is wonderful, Les...just like a painting, as Louis has already said!
Les Auld: A style I have tried for a few times now but this is the best I felt I had done. Thanks for the comment.
Excellent shot Les, I went to a WWII event at SVr way back in the 70's I seem to recall, the border was the Victoria Bridge.
Les Auld: Moved a bit further north these days Brian, thanks for the comment.

Les Auld: Thanks Linda smile
