photoblog image The Hawk Singleton

The Hawk Singleton

The RAF Hawk Display aircraft is provided by RAF Valley's Number 4 Flying Training School. The aircraft is one of the very few display aircraft that has a unique, and different, paint scheme each year. It is also unique in that it is the display pilot for the year that designs the scheme. It is the 50th anniversary of 4FTS and this is reflected in the colours painted on the tailplane.

The Hawk Trainer Mk1, flown by Flight Lieutenant Tom Saunders, demonstrated it's capabilities to the full in the skies above RAF Cosford during this years airshow.

The markings are a take on the Union Flag I think Les
Les Auld: The flag does form the basis of the paint scheme Chris, thanks for the comment.
Another nicely caught action shot, although the light was not entirely on your side with this one.
Les Auld: As the afternoon moves on you do tend to be shooting into the sun at Cosford John, but you do your best. thanks for the comment.

Great shot Les, that is some good lens you have there.
Les Auld: Still need a bit more practice though Brian, thanks for the comment.
I think this was the Hawk at the Southend airshow this year....my photos of it need a little bit of zooming in (think black speck against blue sky!) Cracking image....the detail of the Hawk is so vivid and clear. Fantastic!
Les Auld: The Hawk is doing the rounds of the airshows so I would assume it was at Southend, thanks for the comment.
Excellent shot. I was at the RAF museum at Cosford today. Great day out.
Cheers
Dave
Les Auld: The crowds in the museum were to great for me David so I stayed on the crowd line for the air display but, as far as I remember, there are some fine exhibits there. Thanks for the comment.
wonderful capture Les
