Steam in the Cotswolds

Last weekend saw the end of the Cotswold Festival of Steam, celebrating the 175th anniversary of the Great Western Railway on the Gloucester and Warwickshire Railway.

Ex Railway Operating Division engine 5322 pulls into Toddington at the northern end of the line wearing it's khaki wartime livery.

Lovely powerful engines these Les:this one has a Churchward cab - so it must be an old 'un. They remind me of the Taunton-Barnstaple route. I have a feeling the Railway Operating Department took posession of a number in 1914-18
Les Auld: There were a number built specifically for the ROD and they were sent directly to France to serve behind the lines. Thanks for the comment.
Fine shot Les. I didn't know about this engine until, I think it was you, featured it recently
Les Auld: Yes I did put up an image from Didcot Bill, thanks for the comment.

Les Auld: Plenty of character in them Ron, thanks for the comment.
Fine shot again Les, I would have liked to have gone to that event, it looked good from the pre-event publicity.
Les Auld: There was plenty of action Brian, and on the Saturday the weather was good as well. Thanks for the comment.

I'm off to Statfold Barn this Saturday, will you be going this year?
Your train shots are really good Les smile
Les Auld: Thanks you Linda, appreciate the comment.
