The Wartime Duke ....



...... Well not quite as it was not built until 1954.

But it did look rather splendid during the 1940's war Weekend at the East Lancashire Railway. The allied flags on the front of the train add another splash of colour. During the day the train did carry Sir Winston Churchill and Josef Stalin, or at least look-alike re-enactors, to recreate, in spirit at least, the 1943 Tehran conference between the two.
