A Day for the Pacifics

Saturday was a grand day in the North West for the big engines on the mainline.

A1 Pacific, 60163 Tornado, hauled the Cathedrals Express from London to Chester, where she is seen in the siding awaiting the return trip.

The Stanier Pacific, 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, hauled the Royal Scot from Crewe to Carlisle and back. Seen here on the return leg steaming through Leyland station.

The minute I saw the Tornado train, Les, I started smiling because in this past week Astrid and I have watched the two Zorro movies with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Zorro's horse, Tornado, was such a trooper. smile
Les Auld: Now there is a tenuous link Ginnie, thanks for the comemnt, appreciate it.
Ah! ... the delights of railway regions recognized by delightful paintwork. Not like the crappy splodges of colour on modern trains
