photoblog image Tornado at Preston

Tornado at Preston

The Gricers were out in force at Preston early in the morning to greet 60163, Tornado, at the head of the Cumbrian Coast Tornado Charter.  I counted over a hundred at the platform ends before I became confused with them all getting in the way.

Tornado has just detached from the train to be watered before heading for the Cumbrian coast. The headlight on the left was very bright and did get in the way.

Tornado is fast becoming the best known engine in the country....and I haven't seen it!
Les Auld: Maybe one day Bill, it certainly is travelling around. Thanks for the comment.

Les Auld: A machine of many horses Louis, thanks for the comment.

A great image Les: you were lucky to only get one gricer in the shot. I just love the sound this engine makes - it actually soounds "new" to me
Les Auld: it is a very distinctive sound Chris, a double beat almost. Thanks for the comment.
It does get irritating when others don't even think about getting in peoples shot Les, this is good, what a shame that chap decided to be part of it, and what was he actually taking.
Les Auld: The worst seem to be those with small compacts who hold their cameras out at arms length so taking up much more space, and then spend an seemingly endless time taking the picture. Thanks for the comment Brian.
A really good image Les smile
Les Auld: Thanks Linda, appreciate the comment.
A fine shot of this monster Les.
Les Auld: Thanks Ron, it is a monster but a friendly one.
Fabulous Les
Les Auld: Thank you Pamela, appreciate the comment.
