I had a snake belt just like the boy is hitching his short trousers up with ... well I had several. Shame that he had velcro fastenings on his shoes but the boy (or mum) done good.

richard
Les Auld: Ah! The ubiquitous snake belt, I'll bet many of us had more than one Richard. Thanks for the comemnt.

This is very authentic Les. In period photographs evacuees often look exactly as these kids do
Les Auld: They do so Chris, thanks for the comment.

It's the knitted tank tops, baggy shorts and knee socks that give this picture such a nostalgic feel.
Ingrid
Les Auld: But missing the rolled own socks Ingrid, thanks for the comment.
Yes I had a snake belt as well les. What a great shot, just what we lads looked like back when we were young.
Les Auld: To be brutally accurate at least one sock should be rolled down Brian, thanks for the comemnt.
I particularly like the flat caps.
Les Auld: State of the art fashion back then Ian, thanks for the comment.
My two sisters were like this with their name tags on them..I was a little older so wasnt evacuated..This is a very true picture of what it was like then Les..Great image.
Les Auld: Thanks Ron, the re-enactors do try their best and sometimes you get lucky with the picture. Appreciate the comment.

Even I had a snake belt smile This is a real special shot, not only because it is your number 999 smile Kudos to the people who set up this scene - not that I would be knowledgeable, but it does look the real thing.
Les Auld: Never realised about the 999, missed that one Louis. Snake belts, happy memories of our youth. Thanks for the comment.
