photoblog image The Boathouse in the Park

The Boathouse in the Park

Birkenhead Park, unsurprisingly in Birkenhead on the Wirral, is generally accepted as the world's first publicly funded civic park and has formed the model for many others around the world, including Central Park in New York. It was opened on the 5th April 1847.

The lakes in the park are shaped so as to expose and hide the features such as the Boathouse and the Swiss Bridge as you walk around the lake.

As far as I  can tell there is not a Bandstand in the park.
