The ship now arriving in Liverpool

is HMS Albion, the name ship of the Royal Navy's Albion class of assault ships. Built as a Landing Platform Dock in 2001, she is designed to carry personnel and vehicles such as Hovercraft, Troop Carries and Tanks. More details can be found here.

Aided by tugs Smit Waterloo, Smit Barbados and Thorngarth the arrival was very efficient, within an hour the ship had moored at the Cruise liner Facility, disembarked her Marine Commandos, started loading stores and rigging the ship for visitors. She is here for several days but unfortunately this time she will not be open to the public.
