Together again

Way back on the 11th August 1968 four locomotives hauled the Fifteen Guinea Special from Liverpool to Carlisle via Manchester. Two of them were BR Standard Class Britannia 70013, Oliver Cromwell, and Stanier Black 5 44871. They came together again at the east Lancashire Railway for the February steam gala. Seen here at Buckley Wells shed on the ELR for the nightshoot.

An excellent study Les. Was 1T57, as displayed by the Black 5, the reporting number for that last train I wonder?
Les Auld: It was the reporting number Chris, well spotted and thanks for the comment.

Wonderful time-lapsed shot, Les. Astrid and I rode the train to Groningen this past Saturday and we talked about all you guys with your trains. It was fun. smile
Les Auld: Us guys just have to take train pictures Ginnie, it's in the genes. Thanks for the comment.
I wonder how many memories these trains hold for the thousands of passengers they have carried, hopefully not to many sad onessmile
Les Auld: Certainly does bring back memories Linda, thanks for the comment.
History remade in this shot Les, one to be exceptionally pleased with. Worthy of any of the railway magazines.
Les Auld: Thanks for the compliment Brian, appreciate it.

Les Auld: I did think of a Blurb Book, only time will tell though. Thanks for the comment.

Ha! Lovely image ... my train spotting days of the late fifties have left me a residual love of these great beasts. My composite posting of 18th June 2008 shows aspects of OC ... which might interest you Les.

Les Auld: Had a look at your picture Richard, don't know how I missed it first time around, like the way you presented the details. Cromwell is a superb engine and does perform well. Thanks for the comemnt.
Absolutely gorgeous Les
Les Auld: Thanks for the comment Pamela, appreciate it.
