5643 on the Freight
This weekends Steam Gala event was at the Ribble Steam railway, starting on Friday evening with a night photo shoot. The RSR is one of the smaller heritage lines but none the worse for that. It has a fine museum shed with some interesting locomotives in it as well.
The locomotive is a GWR Collet designed 0-6-2 tank engine designed for the South Wales coal and mixed traffic work to be found in South Wales. Built in 1925 it was withdrawn from traffic in July 1963 and went onto Dai Woodhams scrap yard in South Wales. It is now owned by the Furness Railway Trust and has spent the last year wandering the Heritage Railway trail.
