Penguins on Parade

In the two months over Christmas hordes of penguins appeared on the street of Liverpool then, in the middle of January, they all disappeared. This week 63 of them went on parade in the Victorian splendour of the Great Hall in St. George's Hall prior to their being auctioned off for charity. Guide prices ranged from £11250 to £2500 but they may well fetch far more.

Ohhhh, I love when this is done, Les. I've seen the Buddy Bears in Berlin, the turtles in Atlanta, the cars in Detroit, the cows somewhere else, etc. It's a great way to raise money AND to get variations on a theme. Penguins. Now that's a first for me. smile
Les Auld: Ideal in the winter Ginnie, the idea does seem to be spreading though. Thanks for the comment.

This seems to be the latest craze. Bath had pigs and this year is going for lions. I wonder where this will all lead to Les.
Les Auld: I have heard of cows as well, who knows where it will all end though. Thanks for the comment Chad.
They really are great fun Les, what a talking point to have one in the garden. I have looked at your full set of these and your GCR images on your Flickr, very enjoyable.
Les Auld: Glad you enjoyed the flickr galleries Brain. They are fun though. thanks for the comment.

LOL.. probably have more collective sense than the local councillors - maybe! I've hard of something similar I think with coews in Birmingham some years ago. Not too keen on the two footballers, but the others look wonderful!
Les Auld: There are some really detailed ones there Alan, and all are well painted. Thanks for the comment.
Delightful Les! Is that a reflection on the first penguin, or is the sky and buildings painted on it?
Les Auld: All painted on Pamela, just one of many. Thanks for the comment.
