A Walk Around Longton Brickcroft

Yesterday it snowed, at least it did in the morning, perhaps not so much as elsewhere but there was snow. So when it eased off a quick trip ten miles up the road to Longton Brickcroft resulted in a selection of images with a snow theme. The pond had frozen over earlier in the week so the snow provided a nice finish to the surface, with the sun setting in the west giving a finishing touch.

Longton Brickcroft is on the site of the former Bentley Brickworks in Longton, Lancashire. Clay was excavated at the site to make bricks but when good quality clay ran out in the early 1960s brick making ceased and the site became derelict. During the 1980s the Nature Reserve was created with a small visitor centre, attracting a number of visitors throughout the year.

A slideshow of pictures from the walk may be found on my Flickr site, together wit a few from two days ago before the sow fell.

I like the hint of pink while the rest of the pic is almost b&w.
Les Auld: That's what attracted me Louis, thanks for the comment.
It snowed here and we had to abandon work and go home! Took 3 hours to get back, a journey that normally takes 30 minutes...still I've got the day off today as the boss has told everyone not to try and go in.
Les Auld: So just the opportunity to get out and take some pictures Bill, thanks for the comment.
A beautiful shot, the sky makes it.
Les Auld: It does help Linda, thanks for the comment.

Very pretty: very cold - I've known women like that!
Les Auld: Thanks Chris.
Lovely light in the sky for this shot Les, and a good selection on the link, how lucky to get the lady in the red coat.
Les Auld: You just have to have a red coat in the snow Brian, thanks for the comment.
