photoblog image The Tram on the Pier

The Tram on the Pier

2nd January and after a relaxed morning watching repeats of Top Gear on Dave I went for a walk on Southport Pier, all 3650 feet of it. It was quite clear in the afternoon and the Pennine Hills could be seen tot he north East, the snow on their crests. To the North beyond Blackpool Tower were the Cumbrian hills whilst south past the Lennox field oil rigs the Welsh mountains could just be made out. A pleasant walk, if a bit cold.

For the faint hearted there is a Tram that travels the length of the pier and there is a coffee shop and penny arcade at the seaward end.

If it was windy and cold then I would be sat in the tram! How are these powered?
Les Auld: batteries I think Linda, thanks for the comment.
It sounds as though there was a lot to see Les, I would like a ride in one of these.
