Warning on the Sea Wall

Looking through some old boxes of prints I came across this picture that I thought I had lost. It was taken with a throw-away camera on one of my trips to Japan in the early 1990s and is a tiled warning on the seawall  at Kamakura, south west of Tokyo.

The warning is quite apt I suppose, In the Muromachi period in Japanese history, a tsunami struck Kamakura, destroying the wooden building that housed the colossal statue of  Amida Buddha at  the temple of Kotokuin. Since that time, the statue has been outdoors. Although I don't think there have been many Tsunami in the later years.

I think if I felt an earthquake I should leg it to the nearest hilltop before the waters came Les.
Les Auld: I did feel one a couple of times when I was in Japan and there was one in Birmingham some years ago. Thanks for the comment.
