photoblog image Scottish Steam at Ramsbottom

Scottish Steam at Ramsbottom

The East Lancashire Railway ran a Scottish Steam event over the weekend with the ex-LNER K4 61994, The great Marques, and Stannier Black 5 45487 providing the steam services. Both classes did sterling service in the highlands and lowlands of Scotland during the steam years.

Unfortunately the weather also emulated the rain and grey-ness of Scotland as well so I only managed a couple of reasonable images. This one shows 61994 heading out of Ramsbottom towards Rawtenstall as a light rain starts to fall.

A gorgeous shot Les: I always think of the western Scotland lines to the Kyle & Oban when I see these locos
Les Auld: The line from Fort William to the Kyle of Localsh must be one of the most scenic anywhere. Steam Charters run over that line but I have never been on one unfortunately. Thanks for the comment.
fine atmospheric shot Les
Les Auld: And a wet atmosphere to boot Bill, thanks for the comment.
Back in time..the great days of steam..I remember them well. Nice one Les.
Les Auld: So do I Ron. I read somewhere that the UK has more preserved locomotives in steam thank anywhere else. Thanks for the comment.
So lovely to see them in action. Very good shot.
Les Auld: Much better than wasting away in a museum Linda, thanks for the comment.
The rain and damp gives this a feeling of a winter day in Scotland Les. A great image.
Les Auld: So it does Brian, thanks for the comment.

I think you were lucky to take any pictures this weekend, the weather was so awful.

This one's got a lovely atmosphere.
Les Auld: it has Ellie, and I can confirm it was a wet atmosphere, Thanks for the comment.
