The Christmas Decorations Go Up

Paper chains around Liverpool One Shopping Centre as Christmas at the shops gains momentum.

I remember as a young lad making yards and yards of paper chains almost exactly like these on a smaller scale of course. You don't seem to see them these days though.

I love the wide angle of this, Les, lending to the festive atmosphere. I especially like how the chain is central to the image!
Les Auld: The composition just suggested itself Ginnie, thanks for the comment.

Great picture Les - I expect paper chains infringe some sort of health & safety directive
Les Auld: They probably do Chris, quite a few aspects I suspect. Thanks for the comment.
Great angle and the paper chains really capture the eye.
Les Auld: They do so Ian, thanks for the comment.
Good wide angle shot Les , is this in Liverpool city centre.
Les Auld: It is Michael, thanks for the comment.
Love the angle you've taken this from - great approach
Les Auld: It was taken from one of the cross bridges, resting the camera on the rail. Thanks for the comment Mark.
Good shot Les, you'd need a big tongue to lick one of those paper chains. smile
Les Auld: You certainly would Brian, thanks for the comment.
Very christmasy, huge chains, I am sure you can still buy them to stick together yourself.
Les Auld: Not seen them myself Linda but you could be right, thanks for the comment.
I remember making paper chains! I can taste the gum! super shot this Les
Les Auld: Cow gum I suspect, probably would not be allowed today Bill, thanks for the comment.

Aaargh! I haven't got over Easter yet!
Les Auld: Don't worry Ellie, Easter will be around again soon and you won't notice the passage of time. Thanks for the comment.

I remember it too and the strange taste of gum off the paper.
Les Auld: Had to take away the taste of the gum with sweets, at least that was my excuse. Thanks for the comment Mike.

This is glorious, Les; it almost makes me forget that I hate the gaudiness of Christmas and the greed of people. The lighting is superb as is the composition.

I, too, recall making yards and yards of paper chains but that;s probably banned these days on the grounds that it is far too much fun.
Les Auld: Thanks Alan I/m sure health and safety reasons would have paper chains banned these days, all that fire risk!
