Doctor Who

Another of the themed sections of overhead lights is the Doctor Who display to the south of Pleasurebeach. These are all individual lamppost hangings.

I am old enough to remember the original Doctor Who, played by William Hartnell, back in 1963, transmitted in black and white with underwhelming special effects. None the less it made a lasting impression. I remember my dad buying a Grundig Reel to Reel tape recorder and the Doctor Who theme was one of the first things I recorded, happy days!

Oh, happy days! It must be some hippy gone wonkers to put the police call box up as a christmas decoration. A very interesting background to this collage - leaves me with the impression that the inserts are satelites of the moon. Great.
Les Auld: Happy days indeed Louis, thanks for the comment.

Yes I too remember watching the first episode in glorious black and white. I have pretty well watched all of them since apart from Sylvester McCoy who was awful
Les Auld: Not a god choice was he, thanks for the comment Bill.

LOL - I too remember seeing the very first episode and was hooked thereafter. Gave up after Tom Baker!
Les Auld: My favourite was Jon Pertwee, never the same after he left. Thanks for the comment Mike.

Alas, too, I recall the original Dr Who with William Hartnell.. TV viewing in the good old days before screaming audiences wrecked Saturday night viewing. Good to see this being celebrated in Backpool.

I really enjoy Dr Who, and thank goodness I don't need to hide behind the settee any more!
Les Auld: It is a while since I have seen it Ellie but I do have memories of what has gone before. Thanks for the comment.
