HMS Illustrious at the Cruise Liner Berth

You just have to go down tot he Pier Head at night when there is a ship in and take pictures, there was quite a swell on the river last night and it was quite difficult to get a sharp picture, this is the best of a number of images. HMS Illustrious at night.

On Sunday over 5000 people queued for hours to go on board the ship, it seemed even more were there on Monday. All in all it has been a successful six day visit for the Illustrious.

This is the last ship f the year, as far as I know, to visit Liverpool, so ow we wait for next years programme to be announced.

A lovely powerful image Les - the moon is a bonus!
Les Auld: The moon soon disappeared Chris, thanks for the comment.
A great night shot of her Les, the que for her was as far as the eye could see, so we decided not to.we went on the ferry instead.
Les Auld: I went down on the Monday Linda and the wait was over two hours so I decided not to in the end. Fortunately I had been aboard when she visited last year. Thanks for the comment, hope you got some decent shots from the ferry..

Looks like the best photos were from the quay side though Les - truly impressive.
Les Auld: Not too bad from the river either Mike, thanks for the comment.
I like this night shot Les. It sure is lit up.
Les Auld: It sure is Ron, thanks for the comment.
Well worth the effort Les
Les Auld: Thanks Bill, one of the more difficult because of the swell on the river.

That moon adds an essential "something" to this picture.
Les Auld: And it was only visible for about thirty minutes as well. Thanks for the comment Ellie.
