photoblog image The View Across Llyn Cwmorthin

The View Across Llyn Cwmorthin

A general view of the valley containing slate, in the foreground, in the lake, on the hills, in fact everywhere. The mist was on the hills and the drizzle falling softly across the barren landscape.

But enough of Cwmorthin for now, there are some further pictures on my Flickr site
of course if you would like more.

All that slate just lying there, Les? Wow. I can just picture someone wanting to get their hands on all of it.
Les Auld: Most of it is not too good Ginnie, mainly too many fault lines and wrong shapes for roofing slate. Fine for the garden though I suspect but it is a long way down the hill. Thanks for the comment.

Les Auld: Grey abd wet, exactly so Chris, thanks for the comment.
I want to get to get back places like this. Years ago I was amongst exactly this sort of environment In the Molwyn range south of Snowdonia.

Just a fabulous shot Les. The tones are superb!
Les Auld: Thanks Richard, appreciate the comment.
Excellent shot Les, and what a good set on your Flickr. I reckon one could take different pictures every day at this place particularly as the weather and seasons change.
Les Auld: There are so many pictures here Brian. I have just had this one printed for the Landscape competition at the club, but the print does not seem as good as the digital image. Thanks for the comemnt.

Bleak, cold and forbidding - but a wonderful place to visit for a little while
Les Auld: A couple of hours then back to the warmth and comfort of the car at the bottom of the hill, not something many of the miners could do Ellie, thanks for the comment.
Well captured Les..One can imagine what it was like to work there...Hard!
Les Auld: Very hard Ron, thanks for the comment.
Suits mono very well Les, nice and bleak!
Les Auld: The colour version just did not work as well Bill, thanks for the comemnt.
