The Cooks Tale

One of the cooks prepares a gourmet lunch for the officers and their ladies before the afternoon of battle at Holt Castle.

I'm away for a few days but will catch up when I get back, in the meantime I have queued a few more images from this weekend.

It's a colorful shot, Les, of a bygone era. Can you imagine cooking like that today?!
Les Auld: Every time I go camping, but in mind only, thanks for the comment Ginnie.
Wonderful colors and what a flash back in time!
Les Auld: They do pay attention to detail Jen, thanks for the comment.

Is it snowing, Les? I expect they used to eat well despite food prepared in difficult conditions. Authentic food, I wonder, or are there some McPizza KFC or whatever the heck its called hiding there somewhere?
Les Auld: All food freshly prepared on an open fire, from which the ash would get everywhere, thanks for the comment.

Interesting shot. She definitely does look the part she's playing. I don't think I would have survived back then. I'm too small, can't eat sugar, and suffer from nerve damage.

LOL at me!
Les Auld: I suspect I would not have done either Kay, thanks for the comment.

It's as if you got in a time machine to take thisds Les
Les Auld: Now that is something I would like Chris, can just imagine the scope of picture taking that would be available, but it would have to have a protection bubble as well. Thanks for the comment.
Gourmet lunch eh Les. I would not fancy what the men get.
Les Auld: Hard bread and rough beer I suspect Chad, thanks for the comment.

Having just dropped in, I was thinking the outfit looked a bit clumsy for the 1940's. Then I looked at yesterday's and all became clear ;o)

She does look very worried - has the fire got a bit out of control?
Les Auld: Running short of time I suspect, the soldiers were just marching back to camp and the tea was not ready. Thanks for the comment Mike.

This looks just like one of those Dutch genre paintings Les! Are those sparks from the fire?
Ingrid
Les Auld: There was plenty of ash flying about in the wind Ingrid, thanks for the comment.
Very good..and I cant see a gas bottle anywhere Les.
Les Auld: Neither could I Ron, thanks for the comment.
NO mod cons in this kitchen Les, a nice shot once again.
Les Auld: All definitely hand operated Brian, thanks for the comment.

I love the authentic looking utensils, and clothing.
Les Auld: And they do go to great lengths Mary, thanks for the comment.
The flotsam from the fire really adds atmosphere to the shot.
Les Auld: It was certainly atmospheric Bill, thanks for the comment.

One of the things that amazes me about the clothes they wear - so much is white, which surely can't have been that practical.
Les Auld: Practical to make perhaps Ellie, thanks for the comment.
Nice contrasts. Looks like an old image, I love the vividness.
Les Auld: A touch of Topaz Adjust brought out the textures Paul, thanks fr the comment.
