photoblog image The Girl Guides Express

The Girl Guides Express

How do you celebrate the centenary of the Girl Guides Association? The St. Helens branch decided to organise a steam train trip to York, what could be better. The train is seen heer pulling into St Helens Junction station to pick up over 400 Girl Guides, Brownies and helpers all ready for an afternoon out savouring the delights of the city of York.

The engine is the restored ex LMS Royal Scot 46115, Scots Guardsman, but carrying the nameplates of 46168, Girl Guides, especially fitted for the occasion.

Now if only the engineer were female! grin This almost reminds me of the Polar Express train we saw in Arizona last November, Les.
Les Auld: Never on the main line Ginnie, although there are female train drivers on the modern traction. Thanks for the comment.

This certainly takes me back Les. Royal Scots often came to Bristol and sometimes to Bath Green Park
Les Auld: Great engines Chris, I used to see many of them on the West Coast line. Thanks for the comment.
